One thing I would recommend is to keep checking rates on the days you want to book. The pools hadn't opened yet (I understand they're about to) and, having been in them in the past, they're very good, very clean and plenty of chairs. The food is relatively good all things considered with a Smashburger a fairly long walk from our room but it provided a decent enough hamburger at a reasonable price. A quick trip back to the front desk resulted in us not only getting the very first room off the elevator but having our reservation upgraded from a Mountain View to a strip view room and also having our first night resort fee waived (which they offered to do I did not request it). We went into the room, called the front desk, explained our situation and that we had requested a room close to the elevator and they were very apologetic and very accommodating. Because of some mobility issues, we had requested a room near the elevator, did mobile check-in and learned as we walked down a very long hall that we were the very last room in that hallway. We've stayed at the Rio probably 5 or 6 times over the last few years and almost every time any room request we've had has not been acknowledged but, to the credit of the Rio staff, fixed as soon as we notified them.
